How To Install Landscape Fabric
  You will need the following:

Rake
Shovel (Round Point or Square Point)
Hammer
Knife or Scissors
Jute Staples or Landscape Fabric Pins
Landscape Fabric

1. Take the area you want to cover and measure out the width and the length.
2. Now you know what size fabric to buy.
Note: There are lots of different types of landscape fabrics available; I prefer
to get woven material.
3. Take the shovel and rake and clear out any debris (weeds, rocks, sticks, exc.)
4. Use the rake to level out the ground so it drains to the edges or to one side.
5. Take the roll of landscape fabric and unroll out the amount that you would need to cover the area that you have cleared.
Note:If you have plants don’t worry; you can use your knife to cut out a hole so the plant will fit and then piece in some scrap to fill in the area. Another option is to cut the fabric into sections and then use pins to keep the fabric from moving.
6. Once you have the landscape fabric in the area that you want to cover, take the pins and drive them into the ground with your hammer.
Note: I like to space them out 2' feet on center around the edge and 4' feet on center on the inner part.
7. Now that you have it secured you can put rock, bark, pavers, or whatever you want to cover the landscape fabric.
Note: You can check with your local landscape retailer to get a pre-emergent to prevent weeds from germinating on the bed. If you decide to do the pre-emergent, be sure to follow the label on the product.

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE DONE!
